Sony x imvis
contracted by infinite medical ventures in collaboration with sony and the centre for sight to design an updated version of an optometry machine that was invented in the early nineteenth century.this project involved looking at existing tech to come up with a futuristic vision that prioritised the needs of the ophthalmologists and the patient.working as creative director alongside my colleagues jake price and cameron williamson we designed both the user interface and the outer casing for the machine using rhino, unity and three dimensional printing.the product is still in development. this page will be updated with images of the prototype once it has been released.
spa time
spa time is an app for relaxation that uses asmr and multisensory interactions to provide stress relief. the app is themed around the idea of a spa and catered towards people who enjoy audio and visual stimulation or find that it helps them to wind down. spa time is designed to be used during breaks in work or study as well as in general to help the user feel more calm.my role in this project was the creative director. to embody the soul of the project i scheduled meetings and set timetables for the team as well as creating a mood board to store our notes and ideas as well as help visualise the feeling of the experience of the app. i also sourced the sprites and pixel tiles for the game and directed the interior and exterior design of the spaces which you can see in the floor plan below.
this was a group project and together we developed a synchronicity between us. as a team we decided to go with a pixel style theme as it fit in with the brief of our project which was to create a two dimensional interactive experience, as well as gave a nostalgic feeling. we utilised a variety of sprites including furniture and character customisations that fit perfectly with our vision.
me and my colleagues also came up with a concept company called dymium. during this collaborative process we created a short advert to give a visual aid to our company concept and goals as well as showcase the app in real life.
one of the best things about this project was the experience designing something in a group it really cemented for me that my passion for technology comes to life in collaboration with others.
virtual reality sculpture
for this project, i explored the world of virtual reality, using a special software called unity to create a digital sculpture. you can enjoy this unique artwork in two ways: if you have a vr headset, it feels like you're in a different world where the digital and real blend together. but don't worry if you don't have a headset; you can still experience it on youtube vr.
what inspired me for this project was a cute and playful art style called "kawaii," originating from japan and western pop culture. i realized that "kawaii," which means "cute" in japanese, is not just about looks; it's also about creating a specific feeling. to achieve this, i focused on using soft and bright colors and added a touch of humor to my design to capture that "kawaii" essence.
to make this project, i used blender to create my own digital pieces and also found some useful assets online. what's interesting is that in the world of tech and art, people often share their work openly. this means that many resources and ideas are available for anyone to use and build upon, fostering a spirit of sharing, exchanging and collaboration in the design community.
this project is a blend of technology and art. unity, the software i used, helped me turn my creative ideas into a virtual reality experience. it showcases the amazing possibilities of vr as a canvas for artistic expression, where i've created a world that invites you to explore and appreciate art in a whole new way.
laser harp
the harp is a timeless instrument that has captured the imagination of music lovers for centuries. with its elegant design and hauntingly beautiful sound, the harp has become an iconic symbol of classical and folk music alike. its strings produce a celestial melody that transports the listener to another realm. whether used to create a serene atmosphere, accompany a singer, or take center stage, the harp is a versatile and enchanting instrument that continues to captivate audiences around the world.
the majority of the time was spent developing the hardware and software. most harps are made of wood and gut or nylon strings. for my laser harp i wanted to create something that looked futuristic whilst maintaining a sense of nature. plant based acrylics can be laser cut and come in a variety of finishes some of which resemble semi-precious stones like moonstone and opalite. given that this digital instrument employs light to produce sound, the magic of crystals capture the harp's essence.
the software is split into three sections. the below image is the main section which controls the serial input and output into my laptop through an arduino. the parts for my laser harp were assembled onto a bread board, connected to an arduino, and programmed in accordance using a software called max. i used light reactive diodes which capture the light coming from the lasers. when the diodes are covered a reaction occurs in the software that triggers the sound. this means that when the lasers light is broken it simulates the reaction of a string being plucked.
this experiment helped me to realise that the laser harp needs to be electronically tuned depending on the light levels in the environment, similar to a traditional harp which requires tuning twice a day or a guitar which will require tuning depending on the humidity of the room or temperature changes.to see the full design document for this project feel free to contact me for more information.

the nike x cyberpop series is a concept of how i would design and style a nike streetwear collection. the images are inspired by japanese pop culture and nineties british rave fashion with neon pastels and patterned fabrics reminiscent of the era. the pieces are designed to be comfortable and breathable. the accessories and makeup are natural and inspired by natures summer flowers.the collection features a range of sneakers, sportswear, and printsthat capture the energy and aesthetic of cyberpop culture. the use of bold colors and playful patterns creates a dynamic and eye-catching visual experience. the focus on comfort and breathability ensures that the collection is not only stylish but also practical for everyday wear.complementing the apparel are natural and fresh makeup looks, drawing inspiration from the vibrant hues of summer flowers. the emphasis is on enhancing natural beauty and embracing a fresh-faced glow. the overall aesthetic of the nike x cyberpop series embodies a fusion of streetwear fashion, cultural influences, and a touch of nature's beauty, creating a unique and captivating collection that resonates with the vibrant and expressive individuals of today.

the metallica series is a makeup, hair, and clothing concept that draws inspiration from sheet metals and the unique aesthetic of the japanese fashion movement called party kei. This style combines the sparkle and shimmer of birthday parties and goody bags into a wearable statement. The result is a futuristic vision that transports you to a party in outer space.in this series, metallic elements take center stage, creating a captivating visual experience. the use of metallics as inspiration brings a sense of strength and industrial beauty to the designs. the incorporation of shimmer and balloons adds a playful and celebratory element, reminiscent of celebrations and birthday parties. the combination of these elements creates a unique and avant-garde style that captures the light and makes it wearable.the makeup, hair, and clothing designs capture the essence of light and reflectivity, bringing a touch of celestial beauty to the wearer. inspired by my late aunt, rosita balthazar who ran the belizean dance company, this series explores the concept of ai choreography and ballet costume. my work often deals with the relation between human and computer interaction and the beauty that lies within creative collaboration with technology. the lighting treatment in this series is meant to evoke the neon lights of subways, car indicator lights, and cats eyes on the road. these types of lights are usually liminal and unnoticeable in the background as they purely serve a purpose to help us see in the dark.the materials are inspired by the bio materials that designers are using now, which often carry the aesthetic values of plastics but bring us back to nature and resemble jellyfish or undersea creatures. by incorporating these materials, the series reflects the interplay between artificial and organic, highlighting the beauty and fragility of the natural world. the concept explores the transformative power of technology in the realm of dance and costume design, blurring the boundaries between the human body and the digital realm.
